MD series Free mount cylinder series consists of compact, multi-mounting cylinders featuring a square body design that allows for mounting on any of the six sides without the need for brackets; these cylinders are designed to be interchangeable with the SMC CU series.
Operating Principle:
Double-acting (MD): Compressed air is alternately supplied to both ends; the piston drives the piston rod to extend and retract, generating thrust in both directions.
Single-acting (MSD/MTD): Return is achieved via an internal spring; force is generated in only one direction.
The MD series consists of multi-position fixed-type cylinders.
Multiple mounting configurations: axial front-end mounting, axial rear-end mounting, and lateral mounting on the left, right, bottom, or top surfaces.
The cylinder body features grooves for magnetic sensors, making the installation of sensors (magnetic switches) convenient.
Parallel mounting of multiple pneumatic cylinders: parallel fixation effectively saves installation space, with options for left-side or right-side mounting.
A variety of pneumatic cylinder specifications are available: MD (double-acting), MSD (single-acting, push type), MTD (single-acting, pull type), MDD (dual-rod, double-acting), and MDJ (dual-rod, double-acting with adjustable stroke).
