Single-acting vs. double-acting?

Single-acting uses a spring return and air in one direction—air/valve saving, for short-stroke ejection; double-acting is air-driven both ways with longer stroke and thrust at both ends.

Spring return: air extends, spring retracts (most common); spring extend: air retracts, spring extends, for fail-safe extension when air is lost.

No. The rod is very thin and unguided; side force bends the rod and wears seals. Loads must be coaxial, and offset loads need a micro guide.

The body has a thread and nut to pass through a panel hole and lock, exposing only the rod tip—space-saving and neat.

FAQ Before Placing a Preliminary Order
Why do shared-supply pins extend unevenly?

Unequal tube lengths, friction and loads make each pin reach actuation pressure at different times; add a small air reservoir or tune each pin’s throttle.

Bore, stroke, panel thread and ports matched to the standard allow direct replacement; however, micro seal and spring consistency vary, so sample-test first for high-frequency use.

Custom strokes are available within the maximum; extended rods, flats and tip caps are simple non-standard items (-XA)—provide a drawing when ordering.

No. Extension uses the larger cap-side area for more thrust; return uses the rod-side area minus the rod, giving less force.

Dry nitrogen and other inert gases are fine; oxygen and flammable/corrosive gases are forbidden, as standard seals are not compatible and pose fire/damage risk.

They feed the rod-side and cap-side chambers; while one intakes, the other exhausts, driving the rod in both directions.

If cylinder and valve are leak-free, holding position consumes no air and pressure stays steady; continuous pressure drop means leakage in seals, valve or fittings.
